Evelyn Bowie Scott, 95, of 105 Pineview Street, entered into her heavenly home on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at the Abbeville Nursing Home. She was the daughter of the late George and Lena Ramey Bowie. Mrs. Scott was married to the late Emmett Scott, Sr. for 72 years. She was a former resident of 508 North Main Street for over 65 years. Mrs. Scott found pleasure in crocheting gifts for her family, traveling with her late husband, playing bridge, cooking, entertaining, and playing the organ at Westside Baptist Church. She was a gracious southern lady and was the loving matriarch of her family. Mrs. Scott was a member of South Side Baptist Church and active as long as her health permitted. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Joey Scott; two sisters, Frances Noblin and Nancy Temple; a brother, George Ramey Bowie; and a son-in-law, Jim Arduengo. Mrs. Scott is survived by her two daughters, Georgie Arduengo of Abbeville and Dawn (Joe) Strawhorn of Greenwood; her son, Emmett 'Scotty' Scott, Jr. (Tina) of McCormick; dear friend, Pearl Coleman; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and ten great-great grandchildren. The family will receive friends 1:00pm – 2:00pm, Saturday, December 12, 2015 in Harris Funeral Home. Funeral Services will begin at 2:30pm in the chapel with Rev. Earl Hartley and Rev. Jonathan Shelor officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family will be at their respective homes.
