Frances Berry Newton

Frances Berry Newton, 87, of Abbeville, wife of the late William Robert Newton, Sr., went to be with her Lord on Sunday, August 2, 2009 at the Hospice Care of the Piedmont, Hospice House in Greenwood, SC. She was born in Greenville County to the late Oliver H. and Effie Lee Tumblin Berry. Mrs. Newton retired from the Milliken Abbeville Plant after many dedicated years of services. She was a charter member of Rocky River Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Newton Rogers; two brothers; two sisters; a granddaughter and a great-grandson. Surviving Mrs. Newton are her three sons, Thomas Oliver Newton and his wife Wenona of Abbeville, William Robert Newton, Jr. and his wife Dorothy Jean of Aiken, and Rayford Newton and his wife Rhonda of Lowndesville, SC; two daughters, Mary Frances Harrison and her husband Jim of Pelzer, SC and Juanita Hall and her husband Jim of Williamston, SC; a son-in-law, Sonny Rogers of Abbeville; a sister-in-law Christine Berry of Abbeville; sixteen grandchildren; forty-three great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 1:30PM to 2:30PM Tuesday, August 4, 2009 at Rocky River Presbyterian Church in Abbeville. Funeral services will begin at 3:00PM in the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family is at their respective homes.
