Francine 'Big Mama' Campbell Thompson

Francine Campbell Thompson, 90, wife of the late Doug Thompson, of Abbeville died Thursday, July 4, 2013 at the Hospice House in Greenwood. She was born in Abbeville County to the late Knox A. and Elizabeth Simpson Campbell. Mrs. Thompson was an accomplished seamstress and was a member of Bells United Methodist Church. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gerald Campbell and a sister, Betty Carver. 'Big Mama,' as she was affectionately known, is survived by two daughters, Linda Thompson and Jayne Thompson Hall, and her husband, George; a son, Billy Thompson, and his wife, Joyce, all of Abbeville; three sisters, Ann Jennings, of Decatur, AL, Bonnie Busby, of Abbeville and Alice Taylor, of Lexington, SC; five grandchildren, Tim Hall and his wife, Christa, Shanna H. Bass, Tony Hall and his wife, Kerry, Brandon Thompson and his wife, Susan, and Nikki Bouknight and her husband, Tripp; and ten great-grandchildren, Kale Thompson, Cody Thompson, Kiersten Bouknight, Levi Bouknight, Danielle Hall, Julie Hall, Katie Hall, Madison Hall, Emma Hall and KayLynn Hall. The family will receive friends from 5:00PM to 7:00PM Saturday, July 6, 2013 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 4:00PM Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Bells United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The family is at the home of Billy and Joyce Thompson.
