E. Franklin Cape, SMSGT, United States Air Force, Ret., 72, of Abbeville, husband of Debra Duvall Cape, died Monday, January 29, 2018, at his home. He was born in Abbeville to the late James David Cape and Inez Edwards Cape.
Mr. Cape retired from the United States Air Force after 26 years of service to his country, including serving in Thailand during Vietnam. Following his military career, he graduated from Limestone College in 1997 and for ten years, he was employed with the Beckman Center as a Clinical Social Counselor. Mr. Cape was currently on the Abbeville City Council where he had represented District 3 for eight years. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James David Cape and a sister, Matril C. Cadden.
Mr. Cape is survived by his wife, Debra, of 46 years of the home; two daughters, Frankie Jean McNair and her husband, Merritt and Mary Anne Cape, all of Abbeville; a brother, Charles M. Cape of Murrells Inlet; a sister, Mary Grace Campbell of Greenwood; and three grandchildren, Kasey Elizabeth, Taylor Lee, and Emily Grace McNair whom he loved with all his heart.
The family will receive friends 2:00PM – 3:00PM, Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville. Funeral services will begin at 3:30PM in the funeral home chapel with Mr. David Cadden officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Melrose Cemetery.
