Franklin M. Ramey

Franklin Mabry Ramey, Jr., 77, of Abbeville, beloved husband of Linda Stone Ramey, passed away on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Abbeville Area Medical Center. He was born in Abbeville, S.C., to the late Franklin Mabry Ramey, Sr., and Theresa Hughes Ramey.

Mr. Ramey was a man with strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and he gave him the glory for all things. His life was guided by the word of the Lord in all things he did including leading his family and his daily interactions with others. This was evident in his kind and caring nature.

A proud graduate of Abbeville High School, class of 1965, Mr. Ramey began his professional journey at Ramey Motor Company and Ramey Shell, later dedicating 25 years to Pirelli Cable/Prysmian before his retirement. Known for his hands-on expertise, there was no challenge too great for him, whether in construction, electrical work, plumbing, or small engine repair. His unwavering commitment to his family distinguished him as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who was always ready to lend a helping hand. 

Mr. Ramey enjoyed an active lifestyle, participating in motorcycle racing, where he was a member of the Long Cane Enduro, cheering on NASCAR, maintaining his yard with meticulous care and most importantly fishing with his son and grandson.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Linda; two children, Franklin M. Ramey, III (Brittany) of Abbeville, SC and Heather Elrod (Tim) of Anderson, SC; three brothers, Albert T. Ramey, II (Mary Jane) of Abbeville, SC Joseph H. Ramey (Lek) of Tega Cay, SC, and David Todd Ramey (Courtenay) of Greenwood, SC; his beloved grandchildren, Madison R. Sutton (Devin) and Cort Elrod; two great-grandchildren, Clayton and Creed.

The family will welcome friends from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel at 3:30 PM on the same day, officiated by Rev. Dr. Alvin Hodges. Interment will follow at Long Cane Cemetery.
