Fred V. Peeler

Fred V. Peeler, 76, of Abbeville, husband of Nancy E. Guy Peeler, died peacefully on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Self Regional Medical Center. He was born in Abbeville to the late Claude and Alma Peeler. Mr. Peeler was a member of the Abbeville Presbyterian Church and retired from the CSX Railroad after 40 years. He loved Abbeville and worked hard in his community. He served as a city councilman for Abbeville for 23 years. Mr. Peeler was a mason and member of the Clinton Masonic Lodge #3. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Coleman Peeler, a step-son, Bob Stroud and three brothers, two sisters, one niece and three nephews. Mr. Peeler was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Surviving Mr. Peeler is his wife of eighteen years; three grandchildren, Jared, Megan, and Patrick Peeler all of Abbeville; a great-granddaughter, Sydney Peeler of Abbeville; a step-daughter, Ann Looney of Greenville and a step-son, Joe Guy of Dahlonega, GA; seven nephews, five nieces and a host of friends. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 2:00PM Monday, October 22, 2012 at Harris Funeral Home. Graveside Services will be at 2:30PM in Long Cane Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Carol Strickland and Dr. Bob Todd officiating. The family is at the home on Church Street.
