George H. Jameson, 87, of Abbeville, husband of Joan Wilson Cann died Saturday, June 27, 2020. He was born in Pine Brook, NJ to the late Albert and Ruth Leadbetter Jameson.
A 1953 graduate of Grover Cleveland High School, Mr. Jameson proudly served his country in the United States Army. He retired from the Kinnelon Police Department after 28 faithful years. An enthusiastic sportsman, Mr. Jameson enjoyed tennis, bowling, and golfing. His love for his daughters was always evident; in their younger years, many happy hours were spent on the tennis court where ‘Dad’ affectionately became ‘Coach’. Mr. Jameson was a dedicated member of Bells United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir and was involved with the Men’s Ministry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years, Eileen Jameson; a brother, Jay Jameson and a grandson, Peter George Sopolosky.
Mr. Jameson is survived by his wife of 10 years, Joan, of the home; his three daughters, Lynn Sopolosky (Peter) of Iva and Lori Jameson and Jodi Jameson, both of Boomingdale, NJ; a brother, Jack Jameson of Anderson; two sisters, Judi Carlson of Tulsa, OK and Jerilyn Urban of Delaware; four grandchildren, Jessica Young, Melissa Runyans, Jamie Runyans and Rebecca Runyans; and seven great-grandchildren, Josef, Lucas, Jacob, Emmett, Katherine, Keaton and Zackariah. He is also survived by Joan’s daughters, Lauri Pearman (Jim) of Abbeville and Susan Griffin (Carson) of Mt. Gilead, NC and Joan’s grandchildren, Kacy and Drew, all of whom were special to Mr. Jameson.
A memorial service to celebrate the life of George H. Jameson will be held at a later date at Bells United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorials, in memory of Mr. Jameson, are made to Bells United Methodist Church, 2540 Flat Rock Rd., Abbeville, SC 29620.
