George Ben Rambo

George B. "Ben" Rambo, 76, of Abbeville, husband of Beth Rambo, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, October 24, 2010 at the Hospice House in Greenwood. He was born in Greenwood to the late William H. Rambo & Eunice Dominick Rambo. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Eugene Rambo. Mr. Rambo attended Greenwood Schools and was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in the Korean War. He was owner and operator of the Augusta Dental Laboratory and the former Abbeville Dental Laboratory for 50 years. Mr. Rambo was a member of the Cedar Springs A.R.P Church, where he was a former Deacon, and he was a former member of the Abbeville Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Georgia State Dental Laboratory Association. Mr. Rambo or to some "Big Ben" will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. Surviving Mr. Rambo is his wife of 54 years of the home; two sons, Bennie Rambo and his wife Phila of Bradley and Barry Rambo of Bradley; a daughter, Betzi Snipes and her husband John of Lake Secession; a brother, William H. Rambo, Jr. and his wife Jean of Greenwood; two sisters, Doris Rambo of Greenwood and Betty Jo Godfrey and her husband Bob of Spartanburg; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild, a host of nieces and nephews and many special friends. Funeral services will be 3:00PM Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at the Cedar Springs A.R.P church with the Rev. Dr. George Wilson and the Rev. Dr. Frank McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the graveside in the Fellowship Hall of the church. Memorial contributions, in memory of Mr. Rambo, may be sent to the Cedar Springs A.R.P. Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Kay Christian, 1957 Indian Springs Rd., Elberton, GA 30635 or to HospiceCare of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave. Greenwood, SC 29649. The family is at the home.
