George Davis Ware, 92, of Ashlan Village, Lyman, husband of Martha Elwell Ware, died Tuesday, January 16, 2018, at the Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Landrum. He was born in Abbeville County to the late Clyde Davis Ware and Carrie Blanchett Ware. Mr. Ware served his country in the United States Army during WWII, graduated from Clemson University, and worked as a mechanical engineer for NASA in Langley, VA. He was a member of Cannons Campground Methodist Church. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ware was preceded in death by two brothers, Cecil “Pete” Ware and Marshall Ware. He is survived by Martha, his wife of 67 years, his daughter, Joy Malone (Wylie) of Wellford; his son, Rex Ware (Tillie) of Tallahassee, FL; and a brother, William Ware, of Abbeville. He was immensely proud of his seven grandchildren, Amy Perry, Nathan Malone, Justin Malone, Mark Malone, Davis Ware, Patrick Ware, and Alex Ware, as well as his six great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:30PM to 2:30PM on Saturday, January 20, 2018, in the fellowship hall of Little Mountain Presbyterian Church in Abbeville. Funeral services will follow in the sanctuary at 2:30PM with the Rev. Dr. Frank McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
