Georgia Hall Ashley

Georgia Hall Ashley, 81, of Abbeville, wife of the late Proctor B. Ashley, died Friday, June 2, 2023, at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital.  She was born June 8, 1941, in Abbeville to the late Carl E. and Catherine McDowell Hall. 

Georgia attended Abbeville High School and quickly became known for her infectious personality and laughter.  She retired from the former Milliken & Co – Sharon Plant as a hand draw technician after many years of dedicated service.  Even during her working years and beyond, she always found the time to give back to her community though volunteer work.  Georgia was an active member of DAR and dedicated years to Relay for Life where she had one of the top fundraising teams in Abbeville County.  Presently volunteering with Meals on Wheels, she delivered meals to those in need each week. Georgia loved nothing more than spending time with family and friends whom she never took for granted. She left behind amazing memories that will forever be cherished by those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Lori Bell Ashley Sprouse.

Georgia is survived by three children, Ouida Brownette (Joe Cheek), Marchelle Taylor (Tommy) and Josh Ashley (Maria); two sisters, Sammie Ella Busby and Jean Hall Graham; twelve grandchildren, Tad Martin, Jason Martin, Chris Simpson, Shanna Watts, Kristen Calarco, Bradi Jo Sprouse, Josue Ashley, Shienne Ashley, Daisy Oaks, Aidan Ashley, Eagan Ashley and Jonathan Ashley; seventeen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and numerous extended family and friends.

A celebration of Georgia’s life will be held on her birthday, Thursday, June 8, 2023, 6:00PM, at Harris Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Richie Laster officiating.
