Gladys C Ferguson (Culbreth)

Gladys Culbreth Ferguson, 92, of Abbeville, wife of the late William Brooks ‘Billy’ Ferguson, died Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at Self Regional Healthcare. She was born in Abbeville to the late Richard Samuel and Ludie Williamson Culbreth.

Talented in various ways, Gladys’ artistic ability was shown in her work as owner and operator of Ferg’s Florist for many years. Her musical talent blessed many when she played piano and organ for various churches and groups. Gladys was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters and brother, Gertrude Culbreth Irwin, Lou Ellen Culbreth Jackson and Richard Culbreth; and daughter-in-law, Patsy Ferguson.

Gladys is survived by her three sons, Sam Ferguson of Honea Path, David Ferguson (Christine) of Augusta, GA and Barry Ferguson (Janet) of Abbeville; eight grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; two special nieces, Susan Chewning and Glenda Carey and three nephews, John Jackson, Frank Culbreth and Rick Culbreth.

The family will receive friends 5:00PM – 7:00PM, Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Friday, January 27, 2023, at Sharon United Methodist Church with Pastor Richard Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Sharon United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family is at her home in Abbeville.
