Albert Gordon Stone, 78, of Donalds, husband of Shelby Moore Stone, died Friday, August 11, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Abbeville County to the late William Albert and Mary Elizabeth Gordon Stone. Mr. Stone was a member of SouthSide Baptist Church in Honea Path and retired from The SC Forestry Commission after 23 years of dedicated service. He was a hard-working man who enjoyed cutting grass and splitting wood for family and friends. Mr. Stone’s happiest times were spent fishing, rabbit hunting and sharing time with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Barry Stone; four brothers, William, Mahlon, James, and Robert Allen Stone; a sister, Elizabeth LouAny Taylor. Mr. Stone is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shelby Moore Stone of the home; a son, Ronnie Stone (Amanda) of Abbeville; two granddaughters, Amanda Stone Clark (Russell) of Abbeville and Tosha Stone Hanna (Jeff) of Lowndesville; a grandson, Dale Dansby (Amanda) of Abbeville; three great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Rylee and Addyson Dansby of Abbeville; two sisters-in-law, Pauline Stone of Donalds and Ruth Moore Burton of Due West. The family will receive friends from 5:30PM to 7:30PM on Sunday, August 13, 2017 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00PM Monday, August 14, 2017 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jimmy Tucker and Rev. Travis Dyar officiating. Burial will be private.
