Harold W Taylor, Sr.

Harold W. Taylor, Sr., 93, of Abbeville, SC, husband of Betty Latham Taylor, died Thursday, April 11, 2024, at Self Regional Healthcare. He was born in Edgefield, SC to the late George and Eva Addis Taylor. 

Mr. Taylor proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1948-1952 and retired from the construction industry.  Throughout his life, he found joy in the simple pleasures of gardening and spending time outdoors, appreciating the beauty of nature. Mr. Taylor was of the Baptist faith. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife Pauline Bannister Taylor; his son, Harold W. Taylor, Jr.; two brothers, Gary and Roy Taylor; two sisters, Madolon Dalrymple and Emily Bobo; two brothers-in-law, Gene Hopper and Alton Bobo; son-in-law, Kenneth D. Norwood. 

Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of 33 years, Betty, of the home; two daughters, Carolyn Taylor Orr (Bobby) of Tierra Verde, FL and Sherry Norwood (Wade Burton) of Iva, SC; a sister, Doris Hopper of Iva; a sister-in-law Charlotte Taylor of Pendleton, SC; and his beloved cats. 

The family will receive friend 1:00PM – 2:00PM, Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville Chapel.  Funeral services will begin at 2:30PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mike Wiles officiating.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 2609 Hwy, 29 N, Anderson, SC 29621.
