Harper Stevenson Hagen, Jr., 86, husband of Mary Alice Boyd Hagen, of Abbeville died Thursday, February 13, 2014 at the Abbeville Nursing Home. He was born in Abbeville to the late Harper Stevenson Hagen, Sr. and Willie Eakin Hagen. For 27 years, Mr. Hagen, a respected and appreciated local businessman, owned and operated Hagen's Grocery on the square in Abbeville. He then professionally assisted our community at the Morse Insurance Agency until his retirement. Mr. Hagen was a member of First Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Harper 'Steve' Hagen, III; a grandson, Josh Hagen; a brother, Willie E. Hagen and a sister, Betty Walker. He is survived by his wife of 67years of the home; two daughters, Gina H. Stone and her husband, Frankie, of Abbeville and Mary Carlton Hurt and her husband, Greg, of North Augusta; a daughter-in-law, Linda Hagen, of Greenwood; five grandchildren, Matthew Hagen, Brittany Hurt, Bryan Hurt, Alison Driggers and Casey Stone; four great-grandchildren, Stone, Cole, Harper and Frankie and a host of extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM to 11:00AM Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 11:30AM in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dr. John Keith officiating.Burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery. The family is at the home of Frankie & Gina Stone.
