Hazel Nix Driggers, formerly of Abbeville, SC, wife of the late James Thomas Driggers, died June 8, 2017 in Virginia Beach, VA. She was born May 31, 1934 to the late C.T. Nix and Annie Hatcher Nix in Eldorendo, GA. Mrs. Driggers, Abbeville High School Class of 1952, attended Columbia College and graduated from Erskine College. In 1973, she received her M.Ed. from Clemson University and taught in Cobb County, GA and Abbeville County, SC schools for 40 years. Mrs. Driggers was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority and the First Baptist Church of Abbeville, SC. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Walter E. Nix. Mrs. Driggers is survived by three sons, Thomas Driggers and his wife, Patty of Murrell’s Inlet, SC, Gary Driggers and his wife, Laura, of Eastampton, NJ, and John Driggers of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, Sarah and Rachel Driggers of NJ, Dylan Driggers of Greensboro, NC, Brandon Driggers (USN), Seattle, WA and Duncan Driggers of Greensboro, NC; a sister, Marianne Nix Manning and her husband, Lee, of Virginia Beach, VA; a niece, Jennifer Manning Ramos and her children, Jada, Abigail and Luke and a nephew, Michael Manning of Gaithersburg, MD; and a sister-in-law, Betty L. Nix of Gainesville, GA and her children, Glenn, Pamela and Deborah. The family will receive friends 10:00AM – 11:00AM, Saturday, July 22, 2017 at Harris Funeral Home. Memorial Services will begin at 11:30AM in the funeral home chapel.
