Hazel Reeves Gilliam Quarles, 79, died peacefully Thursday, September 7, 2017, at Hospice Care of the Piedmont in Greenwood, SC. Funeral services will be 1:00PM, Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Bethany Baptist Church, 853 U.S. Hwy 378 East, McCormick, SC with burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the burial. Mrs. Quarles will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service. Born December 26, 1937 in Abbeville, SC, Hazel was the daughter and only child of the late Albert Lamar and Frances Cheatham Gilliam, Jr. She was married to the late Charles Harrison Quarles for 35 years. They moved to McCormick in 1965 to become owner and operator of Triple Q Farms, Inc. supplying eggs to the area grocery stores and raising hogs for 25 years. Hazel is survived by her four children, LaMarr (Tom) Q. Brooks of Salem, SC, Kim (Mark) Q. Bone of Abbeville, SC, Charles Derrick “Rick” (Cheryl) Quarles of Aiken, SC, and William Albert “Al” (Mary) Quarles of Rock Hill, SC; nine grandchildren, Frances (Alan) Brooks Young of Central, SC, Andy Brooks, of Chattanooga, TN, Kathryn (Charles) Brooks Angle of Charleston, SC, Jeremy (Sally) Bone of Lakeland, FL, Dawn Bone of Simpsonville, SC, Derrick (Brynna) Quarles of Lawrenceville, GA, Sabrina Quarles of Aiken, SC, Carolyn (Casey) Quarles Burdette of Fredericksburg, MD, and Stephanie (Josh) Quarles Hale of Rock Hill, SC; and seven great-grandchildren, Alex, Mattie, Lily, Parker, Penelope, Janey, and Cara Lee.
