Henry Webster Grubb, 82, of Greenwood, SC, husband of the late Marsha Powell Grubb, died Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at NHC Healthcare Greenwood. He was born in Lynchburg, VA to the late Henry Clay Grubb and Nettie Jane Brown Tilley.
Henry was a proud Air Force veteran, where he served with distinction as a radio DJ during his time stationed in Germany and Turkey. Following his military service, Henry’s career was defined by his ownership and operation of Dakota Custom Designs, a woodworking business known for its quality craftsmanship and also Dakota Motor Sports, where he specialized in selling auto parts. As an accomplished race car driver in the NHRA racing circuit since the 1960’s, he enjoyed the thrill of high speeds and competition. Racing was not just a hobby, but a passion that represented his enthusiasm for life. Henry also had an appreciation for history, particularly the story of the Southern Railway, inspired by stories from his father, who once rode the train.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Henry James; and brother, Johnny Grubb.
Henry is survived by his children, Kristi Rush (Chip) of Greenwood, Melissa Grubb, of Virginia, Robin West of Dallas, TX, Kristi Sean Gregory (Shannon) of Argyle, TX and Spencer Grubb; sister, Barbara Grubb of West Virginia; sister-in-law, Brenda Grubb of Chesapeake, VA; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
