Henry J. Hershberger

Henry J. Hershberger, 80, of Honea Path, SC, husband of Anna Elizabeth Yoder Hershberger, went home to be with his Lord on Tuesday, July 27, 2010. Mr. Hershberger was born in Lynhaven, Virginia on March 8, 1930 to the late Jacob and Matilda Yoder Hershberger. He was a member of Whispering Pines Mennonite Church where he remained faithful unto death. Mr. Hershberger married the love of his life, Anna Elizabeth Yoder on November 23, 1950. He will be remembered as a faithful servant of the Lord, a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to all that knew him. In addition to his parents, Mr. Hershberger was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Hershberger and a grandson, Christopher Lee Hershberger. Surviving Mr. Hershberger is his wife of 59 years of the home; seven children, Merle (Grace) Hershberger of Belton, SC, Paul (Anna Mae) Hershberger of Delta, CO., Henry Hershberger, Jr. (Barbara) of Abbeville, SC, Ray (Betty) Hershberger of Pickens, SC, Dorothy Hershberger of the home, and twins Martha and Marvin (Buddy, special needs son) Hershberger of the home; three brothers, Joseph (Rosie) Hershberger of Honea Path, SC, Lloyd (Joyce) Hershberger of Mt. View, AR, Jacob (Sarah) Hershberger of Virginia Beach, VA; four sisters, Mary (Norman) Swartzentruber of Abbeville, SC, Annie (Elvin) Miller of Cross Hill, SC, Edna (Lester) Nisly of Abbeville, SC, Ruth Hershberger of Abbeville, SC; one sister-in-law, Martha Hershberger of Due West, SC; ten grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren. The family is at the residence and will receive friends from 6:00 pm A?A?A½ 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at Cold Springs Mennonite Church in Abbeville, SC. The funeral service will be Thursday, July 29, 2010 at 2:00 pm at Cold Springs Mennonite Church, Abbeville, SC. Burial will follow in Whispering Pines Mennonite Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made, in memory of Mr. Hershberger, to Sharing GodA?A?A½s Abundance (Africa Mission), 18555 F. Road, Delta, Colorado 81416.
