Howard Reamy Bealmear, Jr., 90, of Greenwood, husband of Virginia Middleton Bealmear, died Friday, December 19, 2014 at his residence. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Howard R. Bealmear Sr., and Chloris Witherow Bealmear. Mr. Bealmear was graduate of Severn School in Severna Park, MD and the United States Military Academy, West Point, New York. Howard and Virginia were happily married for 64 years. Their life was filled with extensive interests, antiques, railroad collectibles and many other treasurers. He easily admitted they were pack rats, often changing addresses to accommodate their collections. Visits to their daughter, Virginia Lee and granddaughter, Jasmine Lee who lived in Phoenix, AZ were leisurely, relaxed and aimed at seeing our country and meeting people. His childhood love affair with trains recurred ten-fold. They belonged to 3 railroad historical societies which spanned the continent. Most appealing was visiting numerous convention sites. Countless, excellent people were introduced to him during his Army experience where he served in the Korean War. Fellow cadets to generals, enlisted men and noncoms forever remained in his memory. The high points in his career were more than 25 years of technical equipment sales to other equipment manufacturing customers. These great years yielded rewards of commissions, fancy titles and self-satisfaction. New opportunities always promised new faces and new places. Mr. Bealmear gave thanks to God for making him capable of attending West Point Military Academy, working in many areas of this great country in the technical field assisted by his wonderful wife, Virginia of 64 years that God gave him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred B. Morgan. All services will be private and at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request memorial contributions, in memory of Mr. Bealmear, may be made to the Greenwood Humane Society, 239 Wilbanks Circle, Greemwood, SC 29649 or to Hospice Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Ave. Greenwood, SC 29649.
