Howard S. Lorier

Howard S. Lorier, 89, of the Savannah Lakes Community, husband of Judy C. Eick Lorier, died peacefully on Saturday, October 15, 2022, in Augusta, GA. “Howie” was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin to the late Fred G. and Esther Last Lorier.

Mr. Lorier was a 1952 graduate of Central High School in Sheboygan, WI where he played basketball and football. He attended the Sheboygan Business College, was drafted and proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956, later attended the Layton School of Art and Design, and graduated in 1963 from Marquette University with a degree in Design & Engineering.

Mr. Lorier retired after 47 dedicated years in the design engineering and advertising field. Most of those years were with the Kohler Company (Kohler, WI) and later Snapper (McDonough, GA) when in 1981, he moved his family south. He was a member of the Lutheran Church by the Lake in McCormick, SC where he was active with the Men’s Club and choir. Mr. Lorier was an outdoorsman – an avid deer hunter and fisherman - who enjoyed plenty of yardwork and spending time with family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Joyce, Marian, and Shirley.

Mr. Lorier is survived by his wife Judy (married 52 years); a daughter, Lisa L. Lewis (Kristopher) of Augusta, GA; three sons, David Lorier (Carol) of Shoreview, MN; Jay Lorier (Mary Jo) of Carver, MN, and Troy Lorier (Shannon) of North Augusta, SC; a sister, Joan Lang (Phil) of San Jose, CA; eleven grandchildren, Heather, Ashley, Caitlin, Julie, Matthew, Simeon, Scout, Jake, Charis, Hudson, and Benjamin; eleven great-grandchildren, Addie, Logan, Cailin, Nora, Vivian, Finley, Griffin, Jackson, Henry, Wesley, and Logan.
A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Howard S. Lorier will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 24, 2022, at the Lutheran Church by the Lake in McCormick, SC, with the Rev. Wayne Young and Rev. Jim Kinsler officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
