Hubert 'Bub' McCord Botts, Jr.

Hubert McCord ‘Bub’ Botts, Jr., 96, of Abbeville, husband of the late Carolyn Evans Botts, died Saturday, April 13, 2024, at his home. He was born in Abbeville to the late Hubert McCord Botts, Sr. and Leslie Wilson Botts.

A 1945 graduate of Abbeville High School, Bub honorably served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He retired from Milliken & Co – Abbeville Plant after a dedicated 42-year career. Bub was a Mason, Shriner, and member of the American Legion.  A devoted part of Harris Funeral Home on a daily basis for 20 years, he provided support for grieving families through his professionalism, smile and kindheartedness.  Bub was the oldest member of the Abbeville Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his wife and parents, Bub was preceded in death by a son, Michael Evans Botts, and a brother, Thomas Brooks Botts.

He is survived by his daughter, Susan Botts Chisholm, of Mauldin; granddaughter, Katherine C. Horton (Guy), of Madrid, Spain; grandson, Duncan Chisholm, of Los Alamos, New Mexico; three great-grandsons, Thomas McCord Horton, Henry Steel Horton, and William Blakely Horton; and his Harris Funeral Home family.

The family will receive friends 1:00PM – 2:30PM, Friday, April 19, 2024, at Harris Funeral Home.  A service to celebrate Bub’s life will begin at 3:00PM in the funeral home chapel.  Burial with military honors will follow in Long Cane Cemetery.
