Mr. Hugh Wilson Bradley Jr., affectionately known as Red, or Hootie to those who dared, passed away peacefully at the age of 82 on December 11, 2024. Born on November 3, 1942, in Columbia, SC, to Hugh Wilson Bradley Sr. and Amelia Jane Wylie Bradley, Red's heart always remained in South Carolina. After a long and successful career as a process engineer, supporting everything from nuclear power to American beer, he retired to South Carolina, surrounded by close family and friends.
In his youth, Red was a passionate daredevil, known for his adventurous schemes by boat or bike. In his retirement years on Lake Murray, he delighted in creating a gathering place for endless tubing fun for his children and grandchildren, floating with drinks by the dock, and ending the day with good scotch and laughter on the deck.
Red often referred to himself as a “jack of all trades, master of none.” He loved understanding how things worked and enjoyed sharing his woodworking skills with family, friends, and neighbors.
Red was predeceased by his parents and his brother, James Wylie Bradley. He is survived by his daughters, Britton Tusten Bradley Perincheril and Elizabeth Bline Bradley; grandchildren Roman Perincheril and Sydney Perincheril; his sister Amelia Jane Bradley; and his grand dogs, Frannie and Rocco.
He was deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
