Hugh T. Mahoney

Hugh T. Mahoney, 72, of Savannah Lakes Village, husband of Sandy Gaugler Mahoney, died Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at his home. He was born in Bethlehem, PA to the late Hugh T. and Mary Sarkozi Mahoney. Mr. Mahoney was a graduate of Notre Dame High School in Easton, PA before receiving degrees from both Penn State University and Lafayette College in Easton. He retired from Bethlehem Steel as a mechanical engineer with many years of dedicated service. Mr. Mahoney was very involved in his church, the Lutheran Church by the Lake, where he served as Deacon. He was also associated in many capacities of the community, including Meals on Wheels, the Humane Society, the Thurmond Power Squadron and MACK, where he was dedicated to fundraising efforts for the McCormick Arts Council. Mr. Mahoney will be remembered for his passion for running and his fun-loving nature towards everyone he knew. Mr. Mahoney is survived by his wife of the home; a daughter, Patricia Mahoney McGovern, of Douglassville, PA; two sons, Michael H. Mahoney, and his partner, Cara, of Kentucky and Brian Mahoney and his wife, Flory, of New York; and four granddaughters, Megan, Caitlin, Natalie and Melanie.
