Ivan Swartzentruber, 51, of Abbeville, husband of Gloria Schrock Swartzentruber, died Friday October 11, 2019 at his residence. Ivan was born in Virginia Beach, VA to the late Norman J. and Mary Hershberger Swartzentruber.
A dedicated member of the Sharon Volunteer Fire Department, Ivan served as Chief for many years. Since 2000, he, along with his wife, owned and operated the Dutch Oven Restaurant in Abbeville. His servant’s heart was known throughout the area; he often shared food with those less fortunate. Ivan repeatedly contributed whenever he was aware of a need. He worshipped at Cold Spring Mennonite Church.
Surviving Ivan is his wife of 20 years, Gloria, of the home; two daughters, Linda and Dixie Swartzentruber of the home; a son, Tracy Swartzentruber of Pelion, SC; a brother, Myron ‘Butch’ Swartzentruber of Abbeville; six sisters, Loretta Swartzentruber, Ruby Overholt (Larry), Norma Willey (Jared), Anna Schrock (Joseph), Twila Swartzentruber all of Abbeville and Keturah Zimmerman (Curt) of Myerstown, PA.
The family will receive friends on Monday October 14, 2019 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at the Cold Spring Mennonite Church. Funeral services will be 10:00AM Tuesday October 15, 2019 in the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
