Jackie B. ‘Jack’ Evans, beloved husband of Mary S. Evans for 59 years, died Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at Prisma Health Richland.  He was the only child of the late Worthy B. and Lois C. Evans of Abbeville, SC.

Jack is survived by his wife, Mary; a son, Worthy B. Evans, II  (Lissa) of Columbia; a daughter, May Elizabeth Evans Kirby (Bentz) of Columbia; and six grandchildren, Brian, Kate, Thomas and Anna Weatherwax and Matthew and Elizabeth Evans.

He was born in Abbeville, SC on October 31, 1939 and reared in Liberty, SC.  Jack married the former Mary Johanna Scheer of Alexandria, VA in November 1960 while he was on active duty with the U.S. Army at Fort Belvoir, VA.  They shared a happy and adventurous life with the birth of a daughter in 1965 and son in 1971.  They lived in many different areas as his working career took them from his years as a federal servant in Washington, DC to a business career beginning in Minneapolis, MN with Control Data Corporation, other years in Jacksonville, FL and Greenville, SC with the Ira Kroger Companies and in Raleigh, NC and Charleston, SC with other commercial developers.
