James R. 'Buddy' Adams, 75, of Abbeville, husband of the late Pat Sutherland Adams, died Thursday, September 10, 2015 at the Hospice House in Greenwood. He was born in Abbeville County to the late William 'Will' and Pearl Minor Adams. Buddy served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a former member of Friendship Baptist Church and attended Rehoboth United Methodist Church. Buddy was former co-owner and operator of Cherokee Trail Convenience Store. He enjoyed working with cutting horses and spending time with his grandson, Kane. Buddy was a past member of the National Cutting Horse Association, the Area 18 Cutting Horse Association and the American Peach State Cutting Horse Association. He is survived by his son, Billy Adams; his grandson, Kane Adams; two sisters, Betty Champion of Pineville, SC and Willie 'Sissy' Ozmint of Abbeville; a special friend, Teresa Goodwin of Bradley, SC. The family will receive friends from 2:00pm – 3:00pm on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 3:30pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Keith Sweat and Rev. Tony Beauford officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be the Cherokee Trail Breakfast Club.
