James A. "Jimmy" Ashley

June 4, 1955 — April 4, 2017

James A. ‘Jimmy’ Ashley, 61, of Abbeville, died Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at the Abbeville Area Medical Center.  He was born in Mineral Wells, TX to the late James Ashley and Edna Stamey Whitlow. Jimmy, also known as “Charles Mansion” and “Chivo”, was a Native Cherokee Indian.  He served his country in the United States Army, stationed in Korea.  Jimmy was a master drywall and sheetrock installer.  He enjoyed riding his motorcycle which he custom designed and built, listening to older country music hits, especially those by Johnny Cash and Hank Williams, Sr.  A jokester, Jimmy was happy telling jokes and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter Phoebe Ashley (Johnathan Massey); four beloved grandchildren, James Waylon ‘Redstick’ Ardis, Phoenix Rose ‘Sunny’ Ardis, Ray-Ray Rodriguez, and Ava Rodriguez; step-son, Ramon Rodriguez, Jr.; two brothers, Jon Ashley and Shane Ashley; his true love, Juanita Flores; and extended family in Texas and Arizona. A Celebration of Jimmy’s Life, with Military Honors, will be 3:00 PM, Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Harris Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Beasley officiating.  Following the service, the family will be escorted to Greenwood by the Bikers for Christ Motorcycle Ministry.
