James “Daniel” Banks, 36, husband of Kayla Curry Banks, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022 following a long battle with cancer. Born in Abbeville, SC on January 3, 1986, he was the son of Johnny and Kathy Stamey Banks.
Daniel received a Bachelors degree from Clemson University in 2008 as well as a Masters degree from the University of South Carolina in 2015. He was employed by Milliken, Inc as the director of manufacturing. He had been a dedicated employee to them for 14 years.
Daniel gained his “ticket to heaven” when he was just 11 years old. He was a member of Warrenton Presbyterian Church during his childhood years and found his church home as an adult at New Spring Greenville.
Daniel was a fierce competitor and had the strongest will to live. He gave himself selflessly to his family, friends and employer. He was a brilliant man and always wise beyond his years. He was a loving and obedient son, a kind and caring brother and uncle and friend. He was a devoted husband who loved his wife just as Christ loves the church. Above all else, he was a servant to our Heavenly Father. From the start of his fight with cancer he wanted his journey to glorify God and that it did and continues to do.
In addition to his wife of 11 years, left to cherish Daniel’s memories are his parents, Johnny and Kathy Banks; father in law, Eric Curry (Melanie); mother in law, Karen Simmons (Trevor); his sister, Amanda Bungert (Marco); two sisters in law, Paige Curry and Erica Smith (Shane); as well as his three nieces, Lillie Bungert, Eden Smith, Jacie Charles and his nephew, Micah Bungert.
A celebration of Daniel’s life will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at 4:30 PM at Warrenton Presbyterian Church in Abbeville, SC. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 from 6 PM to 8 PM at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at 1 PM at New Spring Church, Greenville, SC with the burial to follow.
