Dr. James Frederick Dorn, Sr., 91, of Charleston, SC, widow of Grace Patrick Dorn, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday November 1, 2011 at the Charleston VA Medical Center after a brief illness. Fred was born in Westminister, SC on January 27, 1920. He was the son of John Lafayette Dorn and Rosa Pearl Crumpton Dorn. Fred was a remarkable and dedicated son, father, grandfather and physician. He was a WWII disabled veteran who served in the Asian-Pacific theater. After the war, Fred moved to Sullivan's Island, along with his mother and sister, and was a charter member of the Sullivan's Island Baptist Church. He used his GI bill to earn his BS at the College of Charleston and MD at the Medical University of South Carolina. After graduating in 1956, he set up his practice in McClellanville, SC. Being surrounded by the Francis Marion National Forest, "Doc" spent many years reveling in the art of hunting, fishing & farming here and in Bradley, SC. Surviving relatives include; daughters Margie Tuck of Magnolia AL, Irene Sanjana of Charleston, and Jeanette D. Roberts of North Charleston; son James F. Dorn, Jr. of North Charleston; son-in-law Berzin Sanjana of Charleston; grandchildren Ryan Tuck, Jennifer T. Westmoreland, Kevan Sanjana, Perin Sanjana, Chris Roberts and James Roberts; and 3 great-grandchildren. Predeceased relatives include his wife, Grace Patrick Dorn, his daughter Ruth D. Chapman, his son-in-law Rodney Tuck, five brothers, four sisters and many nieces and nephews. Burial and graveside services will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at 3 pm at the McKendree Methodist Church located on Hwy 378, in Edgefield County, SC.
