James B. "Jim" Ellis

James B. "Jim" Ellis, 73, of Iva, husband of the late Barbara Creswell Ellis, died Wednesday, September 2, 2009 at the Hospice House in Greenwood. He was born in Abbeville County to the late Ollie B. & Iva Ruth Young Ellis. Mr. Ellis served in the U.S. Army and retired, after 42 years of dedicated service, from the Milliken-Abbeville Plant. He was a loyal member of Little River Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon and member of the Adult Men Sunday School Class. Mr. Ellis was a wonderful father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many and will be missed by all that knew him. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Frank Ellis and a sister, Maggie E. Hannah. Surviving Mr. Ellis is his three sons; Mike E. Ellis and his wife Jeanette of Abbeville, Stanley C. Ellis and his wife Susan of Belton, and Paul R. Ellis and his wife Sherri of Iva; two sisters; Bernice "Bunk" Fogle of Abbeville and Agnes E. Ellis of Swainsboro, GA; six grandchildren; Scott Ellis, Brad Ellis, Kayla Ellis, Katie Ellis, Kari E. Owens, and Sammy Evans; one great-grandson, Levi Owens. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Friday, September 4, 2009 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00PM Saturday, September 5, 2009 at Little River Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Jones officiating. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. The family is at the residence of Mr. James B. "Jim" Ellis.
