James ‘Larry’ Evans, 69, of Ninety Six, died Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont. He was born in North Carolina to the late James M. Evans and Avenelle Cook Wells.
A graduate of Ninety Six High School, Larry was employed as a truck driver for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors where many happy hours were spent hunting, fishing and on the golf course. Larry will be remembered as a loving father, brother, grandfather, and friend to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, ‘Johnny E’ and a brother-in-law, Bill Voiselle.
Larry is survived by his sons, Ryan Evans (Tabatha) of Ninety Six and Russel Evans (Tabitha) of Greenwood; a daughter, Lynsey Dove (Frankie Dennis) of Ninety Six; a sister, Kay Voiselle, of Ninety Six; nine grandchildren, Amber, Gabriel, Jacob, Tristen, T.J., Jones, Alonnah, Aria, and Bowen; great-grandchildren, AnnaFaye, Hazel, Greyson and Isla Rose, coming December 2020; nieces, Wanda and Marsha; nephews, Bill and Billy; and a wide circle of extended family and friends.
A private family service will be held September 30, 2020. Additionally, family and friends are invited to gather on Larry’s birthday, October 17, 2020 at Greenwood State Park to celebrate his life. Further details will follow.
