James E. Fisher, 77, of Plum Branch, SC, made his transition to a new adventure after a long illness Saturday, May 24, 2008 at the Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood, SC. He was born in Neville Island, PA on Nov. 30, 1930, the son of the late Blanche (Dumount) and Christopher Fischer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Fischer and a sister, Molly Vettorel. He leaves his wife of 24 fun filled years, Sylvanna of Plum Branch, SC; two sons, James Fisher.Jr., of Surprize, Arizona, and Robin Fisher of Pittsburg, PA; a daughter, Cindy Fisher of Pittsburg; three grandchildren, James Fisher III, US Navy, Christopher Fisher of York, PA, and Rebecca Fisher of Pittsburg; three sisters, Todd Mazar of Pittsburg, Irma Hochreiter of Texas, Nancy Wilson of Pittsburgh, and two brothers, Alfred Fischer of Florida and William Fischer of Philadelphia. Jim was a Navy Veteran and retired from Dravo Corp., Pittsburg as manager of the Shipyard. He also worked for General Dynamics, Quincy, MA. He renovated "The Ark" a 4-Apartment Building on Nantasket Beach, Hull, MA. This was formerly the summer home of the Kennedy and Fitzgerald families. Jim's final tribute was the donation of his remains to MCG, Augusta GA for research purposes. All services will be private.
