James 'Hickey' H Wideman

James H. Wideman, 68, of Calhoun Falls, SC, husband of Brenda Walker Wideman, died Friday, June 3, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in McCormick, SC to the late James and Martha Gracie Johnson Wideman and reared in the home of his aunt and uncle, Annie Bell and Marshall Thomas.

James, affectionately known as ‘Hickey’, graduated from McCormick High School and attended Piedmont Technical College. He proudly served in the United States Air Force. ‘Hickey’ was formerly employed with the Abbeville County Sheriff’s Department and Calhoun Falls Police Department. He was a member of the American Legion and Rock Ford Church in Mt. Carmel, SC.

‘Hickey’ leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 45 years, Brenda; children, James E. Wideman Jr. (Kayshawna) of Anderson, SC, Davin X. Wideman of Calhoun Falls, SC, Amy T. Bell (Anthony) of Blythewood, SC, Twylene Wideman and Lisa Allen, both of Greenwood, SC, and Melinda Gaines of Elberton, GA; four brothers, Charles Wideman (Sarah Ann), Cliff Heard and Dennis Thomas (Gloria), all of Calhoun Falls, SC, and Franklin Sherman of Lincolnton, GA; four sisters, Marcia Wideman, Dianne Norman and Ludie Cade, all of Calhoun Falls, SC and Annie Grace Prince (Barry) of Simpsonville, SC; eleven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Those who would like to pay their respects to Mr. Wideman may do so Thursday, June 9, 2022, between the hours of 4:30PM and 6:00PM. The family will receive friends 10:00AM - 11:00AM, Friday, June 10, 2022, in Harris Funeral Home, Calhoun Falls Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 11:00AM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Johnnie Waller officiating. Burial will follow at 1:00PM in M.J. ‘Dolly’ Cooper Veterans Cemetery with military honors.
