James ‘Jimmy’ Sutherland

James Harold Sutherland, 72, of Abbeville, SC, husband of Ok Hui ‘Lee’ Sutherland, died Sunday, February 4, 2024, at the Hospice House in Greenwood, SC. He was born in Abbeville, SC to the late Samuel ‘Tom’ and Dorothy Ware Sutherland.

A graduate of Abbeville High School and Piedmont Technical College, Jimmy honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps as a Crash Crew/Firefighter for four years while earning two Good Conduct Medals during the Vietnam War. He was employed with the former Pirelli Cable for 25 years.   

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by a son, Brad Sutherland; two brothers, Claude and Samuel ‘Sammy’ Sutherland; and a brother-in-law, Arvin Gambrell.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Lee, of the home; son, Christopher Sutherland of Abbeville,   SC; two daughters, Connie Cook (Mark) of Greenwood, SC and Aimee Rogers (Aaron) of Fort Worth, Texas; three sisters, Betty S. Uldrick (Frank), Edna S. Faggart (Bob), all of Abbeville, SC and Gail Gambrell of Donalds, SC; and six grandchildren, Drew Sutherland, Dylan Sutherland, Dominic Sutherland, Mackenzie Cook, Wyatt Rogers and Morgan Rogers.
