Remember James Harold McKesson when you are about to play a hand of Rook. Those of you that know, affectionately remember him as Jim with the yellow hat. Jim entered eternal life on November 16, 2015. His spirit is carried on by a loving wife, Brenda, three children, six grandchildren, and one sister of Atlanta. We were all blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Jim during his 65 years, among them, 85, always start the bidding in Rook at 85. Other facets of his legacy include the following life advice: If a snake crawls in the back of your boat, poke him a few times with a fishing pole. If he refuses to leave, fill the boat with moth balls, and fish out of the front. Let the dog share your lap, bed, and part of your lunch. If the muffler on your car rusts out, be resourceful, and cut apart a Diet Coke can to mend it back together. Stop and give a ride to someone who is walking to work. Set booby traps for visitors in your home. You never know what people are up to. It is ok to give your last dollar to someone who needs it, it is just money. All people should have or know basic survival skills. If your speedometer stops working you should be able to tell how fast you are driving by sticking your hand out the window. If your turn signal stops working always know hand signals. If you are a fisherman, you should know how to tell time by the sun so you know when it's time to come home. He would laugh and say if you are reading this and criticizing and critiquing it, you have too much time on your hands. Jim loved and enjoyed talking to people over the years at Milliken and Ingles. He could spin a yarn and loved a good joke. Most of all, he loved his wife of 41 years of the home; his three children, Jenny Risinger (Andrew), Anne Burkes (Brian), and Jimmy McKesson (Leslie); his sister, Anne Cross (Lee); his grandchildren, Ben, Carrie, Miranda, James, Shelby, and Scarlett ; and his dog, Olivia. A Service to Celebrate Jim's Life will be 11:00AM, Wednesday, November 18, 2015, in Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville Chapel with Rev. David Cobb officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions, in memory of Jim, to be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 326 Montague Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646. The family is at the home. A message of condolence may be sent to the family by visiting www.harrisfuneral.com
