James Adam Palaima (Jim, Mr. P), age 67, of Mc Cormick SC, formerly of Chardon, Ohio, passed away Memorial Day, May 26, 2014 at the Hospice House in Greenwood, SC. Born March 3, 1947 in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Adam and Myra (Frye) Palaima. He graduated from Richmond Heights High School in 1965 and served in the Air Force during Vietnam from September 1965-1969 as an airplane hydraulics repairman with the 61st FMS out of Hawaii. He worked as an auto mechanic and service manager at area dealerships before becoming an Auto Technology Instructor at Auburn Career Center, Concord Twp., and Ashtabula County Technical and Career Center in Jefferson. He enjoyed coaching Little League baseball and Lions Club football, boating, fishing, race cars, and Cleveland sports. He took great pride in his home and backyard in Chardon, hosting several memorable events. He retired to Savannah Lakes Village in McCormick, SC in 2011. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Paula Stone Palaima; sons George(Laura) of Albany, GA, Jeff(Cindy) of Pittsburgh, PA; grandchildren Ellison James, Miala, Mason, Marissa; sisters Debra(Roger) Van Horsen, Gwen Britton, Lynn(Robert)Simenc; several nephews, nieces and cousins. A Celebration of Life service will be Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Chardon United Methodist Church, 515 North Street, Chardon, Ohio. Rev L. Chris Martin will officiate. Private burial will be at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, Chesterland, Ohio.
