James 'Jimmy' H. Simmons

James H. ‘Jimmy’ Simmons, 80, of Donalds, husband of Dorothy Brown Simmons, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023, at the Hospice House in Greenwood. He was born in Abbeville to the late William and Callie Bundrick Simmons.

Mr. Simmons attended Dixie High School and retired from Monsanto after 30 years of dedicated service. Spending time with his family, especially his great-grand-daughters brought him much enjoyment and happiness.  He was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Honea Path.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Angela Lindle; three brothers and four sisters.

Mr. Simmons is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy, of the home; daughter, Pamela Harmon (James); grandson, Jamie Ashley (Dione); son-in-law, Benjamin Lindle; two great-granddaughters, Mayson and Riley Ashley; brother, Rayford Simmons and sister, Jane Ellis (George).

The family will receive friends 5:00PM to 7:00PM, Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Harris Funeral Home in Abbeville. Funeral services will be 11:00AM, Thursday, December 21, 2023, in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Kile Antone officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
