Jan Burton James, 53, wife of Mike James, of Iva died Wednesday, January 8, 2014, along with her granddaughter, Charley, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was born in Anderson to Albert Truman Burton and Mary Sue Blair Burton Marchbanks. Jan, blessed with a tremendous capacity to love everyone, was especially gifted in sharing her affection in the lives of many children. She was devoted to ensuring a positive and lasting influence to those who benefited from her care. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. Jan is survived by her husband of 36 years of the home; her mother and father, both of Iva; a daughter, Jennifer James Beasley and her husband, Mitchell, of Donalds; two brothers, Tim Burton, of Iva and Keith Burton of Kings Mt., NC; a sister, Alvie Kernells, of Anderson; a grandson, Carson James Beasley and a host of extended family and friends. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 3:00PM Sunday, January 12, 2014 at Donalds Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family is at the home on Willie Kay Road.
