Janice Melinda Dickey Davis, 73, of Abbeville, wife of Paul Davis, entered into rest on Friday, April 16, 2010 at the Carlisle Nursing Home in Due West. Mrs. Davis was born November 30, 1936 in Great Falls SC, the daughter of the late William David "W.D." and Lila Edwards Dickey. She graduated Great Falls High School in 1954 and attended Columbia College. Mrs. Davis was a bank secretary and worked for the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce. She and her husband retired to Abbeville in 1989 where she served on the Abbeville County Development Board and was a member of Abbeville First Baptist Church and the Bible Study Sunday School Class. Mrs. Davis will be remembered for her kindness and sense of humor. Her greatest joy was her "sweetheart" of 22 years, Paul, her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Davis is survived by her husband of the home; two sons, Jeffrey Brian Ivester and his wife Ann, of Roanoke TX and Jason Todd Ivester of Lexington SC; a daughter Julie Claire Ivester Hayler of Mount Pleasant SC; a brother, Dwight Dickey and his wife Alice Jo, of Greenwood SC; two stepsons William Glenn Davis and his wife Angela, of Lexington SC and Philip Paul Davis of New York, NY; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Hannah Claire Hayler. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM A?A?A½11:30AM, Monday, April 19, 2010 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 12:00Noon on Monday, April 19, 2010 in the sanctuary of Abbeville First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. A reception for friends and family will be held following the burial in the Abbeville First Baptist Church Christian Life Center.
