Jean Kilgore Dunn

Jean Kilgore Dunn, 75, of Abbeville, beloved wife of George Dunn, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at her residence. She was born in Calhoun Falls to the late Claude Dewitt Kilgore, Sr. and Mildred Louise Spence Kilgore.

Jean's journey through life was marked by resilience, achievement, and love. She was of the Baptist faith and after graduating from Piedmont Technical College, Jean dedicated many years of her life to Cardinal Health (formerly Covidien Medical Supplies).

Her joys were simple and profound. Jean cherished the serene moments spent on her back porch, where she could watch the hummingbirds flutter by. She embraced the adventure of camping, the freedom of boating, and the thrill of shopping. Yet, the pinnacle of her happiness was found in the presence of her grandchildren. Their laughter and warmth brightened her days immeasurably. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Lisa Dunn and six brothers, Jimmie Kilgore, James Bobby Kilgore, Harold Kilgore, Claude Dewitt Kilgore, Jr., Eddie Kilgore and Fred Kilgore.

Jean is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, George, who was her constant companion and source of strength. Jean's legacy lives on through her three daughters, Laura Dunn Randall (Joey), Krista Dunn Shaw (Rodney), and Amy Dunn O’Quinn (Russell); a brother, David Kilgore and a sister, Kathy K. Grant (Donnie); ten grandchildren, Joseph (Lindsey), Beth Ann, Matthew, Ainsley, Alex, Maybree, Claren, Jackson, Sydney and Landon; and one great-granddaughter, Josie.

The family will receive friends 5:00PM to 7:00PM Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Harris Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be 3:00PM Sunday, August 13, 2023, in the funeral home chapel.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
