Jerry Wesley Miller, 74, of Abbeville, husband of Joyce Dobbins Miller, died Sunday, August 04, 2019 at Self Regional Healthcare. He was born in Greenwood to the late J.W. Miller and Martha Frances White Miller.
A 1962 graduate of Abbeville High School, Jerry joined the South Carolina National Guard where he was associated with the 151st Signal Battalion. He was employed with Flexible Technologies from 1971-2007 retiring as the Maintenance Supervisor after many years of service. A devoted member of Beulah Baptist Church, he was an integral part of the Men’s Sunday School Class and served as a Deacon. Watching Panther football and listening to the NASCAR races brought him much delight. Camping with their best friends Jayne and George Hall, good cookouts, boat rides and enjoying time with family and friends will be memories never forgotten.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother, Sarah F. Erwin and step-brother, Craig Booth.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce, of the home; two sons, Chris Miller (Sharmel) and Gerald Miller (Kristi) all of Abbeville; sisters and brothers, Vicki Ashley (Ronnie), Frances Gilliam (Sam), Patsy Hodges (Barry), Gloria Booth, and Tony Booth (Shirley); five grandchildren, Heather Tallent (Kenny), Ashlyn Miller, Grant Miller, Dustin Scott and Brittany Scott; five great-grandchildren, Cason, Logan, Brianna, Auston and Anslee.
The family will receive friends Monday, August 5, 2019 from 6:30PM to 8:30PM at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00AM, Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Craig Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
