Jessie Cromer Ellis, 87, of Abbeville, wife of the late Edward 'Ed' Rose Ellis, died Monday, April 25, 2016, at the home of her son, Jimmy Ellis. She was born in Abbeville, SC to the late John Henry Cromer, Sr. and Mary Erwin Cromer. Mrs. Ellis was employed with Bloomsburg Mills. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Abbeville, SC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John Henry Cromer, Jr.; sister, Minnie Lee Hughes; daughter-in-law, Mary Leila Carroll Ellis; and son-in-law, Gaines C. 'Skip' Davis, Jr. Mrs. Ellis is survived by her son, Jimmy Ellis, of the home; daughter, Phyllis E. Davis of Abbeville; three grandchildren, Tammy Lewis and her husband John, Kerri Davis, and Nicole Watford and her husband, Matt; and five great-grandchildren, Kaleb Davis, Madison Ellis, Davis Sutherland, Tristen Ellis, and Adyn Watford. Requesting casual wear, the family will receive friends Wednesday, April 27, 2016 from 2:00PM to 3:30PM in Harris Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin on Wednesday at 4:00PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Johnny Todd officiating. Burial will follow in Due West ARP Church Cemetery. The family will be at the home of her son, Jimmy Ellis, Abbeville, SC 29620. Memorial contributions, in memory of Mrs. Ellis, may be sent to Hospice of South Carolina, 110 Dillon Drive, Spartanburg, SC 29307; Ebenezer United Methodist Church; c/o Shirley Simpson, 955 Stevenson Road, Abbeville, SC 29620; or to the charity of one's choice.
