Jeweline Powell Putnam, 83, of Calhoun Falls, wife of the late William Earl Putnam, died Thursday, October 8, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Calhoun Falls to the late John Moses and Louella Evans Powell.
After a lengthy employment with the J.P. Stevens Plant, Mrs. Putnam retired from WestPoint Pepperell in Calhoun Falls. She was an enthusiastic sports fan having played softball and was widely known for her short stop tric trax softball team. . Mrs. Putnam faithfully followed her family in sports activities; she was known through out the Calhoun Falls Recreational Department children and Calhoun Falls Charter School sports teams as ‘Nanny Putt”. Mrs. Putnam served on the Calhoun Falls City Council and was a member of Northside Baptist Church. The family would like to send a sincere appreciation for Caris Hospice Nurses for the love, support and care as they knew her not only as ‘Nanny Putt’ but ‘Fancy’ was their nickname they called her.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son, Danny Putnam; two brothers, Richard and John Powell; and two sisters, Grace Mobley and Eunice Powell.
Surviving Mrs. Putnam are her children; Patsy Rice (Johnny) of Elberton, GA, Teresa Davis (Bill) of Elberton, GA, Marsha Putnam of Calhoun Falls, SC, Debra Putnam (Randy) of Chattanooga, TN, Roxann Haynes of Calhoun Falls, SC, Dawn Price (Tara) of Calhoun Falls, SC, Jessie Fleming (Craig) of Elberton, GA, Brandi Mobley (Shawn) of Calhoun Falls, SC and Hope Mobley of Calhoun Falls, SC and reared in the home a great grandson Jonah Wilson; a sister, Mary Strickland (Junior) of Calhoun Falls, SC; eight grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren; special caregiver Susan Scott and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2:00PM to 3:00PM on Sunday, October 11, 2020 in Northside Baptist Church. Services to celebrate Mrs. Putnam life will be 3:30PM Sunday, October 11, 2020 in Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. John Ellis and Rev. Dwayne Lambreth officiating. Burial will be private in Latimer Cemetery.
