Jimmie Lee Ellis, 77, of Calhoun Falls, husband of Josie Cheek Ellis, died Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the Hospice House in Greenwood. He was born in Abbeville County to the late Carl and Ollie Waters Ellis. Mr. Ellis retired from Worley Brother's Granite Company in Elberton after many years of dedicated service and was a former employee with Nickles Construction Company in Abbeville. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Calhoun Falls Masonic Lodge #283. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Jarrett Ellis; a brother, Bennie Ellis; a sister and brother-in-law Sara Lou and Hugh Strong. He is survived by his wife of 58 years of the home; a daughter, Deborah E. Scott of Anderson; a brother, Calvin Ellis and his wife Lloyd of Calhoun Falls; two sisters, Helen Bosler and her husband Mike of Abbeville, and Martha Sue Thompson of Duluth, GA; three sister-in-laws, Lizzelle Ellis of Calhoun Falls; Margaret Rast of North, SC and Margie Edenfield of Las Vegas, NV; two grandsons, Jason Sutherland of Calhoun Falls and Brandon Sutherland and his wife Cissy of Abbeville; and a great-granddaughter, Crystal Sutherland. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 3:00PM Monday, May 4, 2009 at Harris Funeral Home. Graveside Services will follow at 3:30PM on Monday in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens conducted by the Rev. Wendell Rhodes and Preacher John Ellis. The family is at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Mr. Ellis may be sent to the Greenville Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 W. Faris Rd. Greenville, SC 29605.
