Jimmy D. Burriss, 79, of Abbeville, husband of Jan Graham Burriss, died Friday, June 22, 2018 at the Abbeville Area Medical Center. He was born in Anderson County to the late Frank V. and Mary Nelson Burriss.
Mr. Burriss attended Iva Schools and was a member of Iva High School class of 1956. He honorably served in the United States Air Force. Mr. Burriss was employed by Mohawk Industries - Rocky River Plant for 20 years and later retired from Pirelli Cable after 20 years of service. He served as a Trustee of Sharon United Methodist Church where he was a dedicated, faithful member. Mr. Burriss spent many happy hours enjoying family, food and fellowship.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Burriss.
Mr. Burriss is survived by his wife, Jan of 57 years of the home; two daughters, Patricia Davis (Steve) and Wanda Pullin (George) all of Abbeville; a sister, Audrey Hardy of Anderson; four grandchildren, Stephanie Davis Stanley (Cliff), Rebecca Pullin Aldridge (Aaron), Brooke Davis McCaslan (Will) and Meri Pullin Stewart (Robert); four great-grandchildren, Davis, Mac, Gentry and Annsleigh; especially caring nieces and nephews, Angela Graham Bell, Crystal Beauford (Greg), Dale Allen (Jill), Kevin Allen and other nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 5:00PM to 7:00PM on Monday, June 25, 2018 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:30AM, Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Sharon United Methodist Church, 246 Sharon Church Road, Abbeville with the Rev. Daniel K. Fortney and Rev. Eric Shephard officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Sharon United Methodist Church Cemetery.
