Jimmy E. Loftis

Jimmy E. Loftis, 74, of Abbeville, husband of the late Rebecca Stamps (Becky) Loftis, died Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital. He was born in Greenwood to the late Leonard Ashley and Emma Ruth Gunnells Loftis.

Mr. Loftis proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and received a Purple Heart medal. Working on old cars, gold mining, treasure hunting and gardening were some of his favorite pastimes. He also was an avid fan of Western movies and their stars, especially John Wayne.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Grady Loftis; two sons, Jimmy Earl Loftis, Jr. and Douglas Franklin Loftis.

Mr. Loftis is survived by two daughters, Amy Loftis Alley of Greenwood and Lorrie Loftis Walters of Abbeville; three brothers, Bobby Loftis (Kathy) of Ware Shoals, Billy Ray Loftis of Greenwood and Jesse Ashley of Abbeville; four sisters, Linda Abramson (Murray) of Williamston, Shirley Bell of Honaker, VA, Patsy Ashley and Denise Cooper (Ken) all of Abbeville; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 3:00PM - 4:00PM, Monday, October 11, 2021 in Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services will begin at 4:00PM in the funeral home chapel with Mr. Jamie Baker officiating.

Memorial contributions, in memory of Mr. Loftis, may be sent to the charity of one’s choice.
