Jimmy W. Wilson

Jimmy W. Wilson, 79, of Abbeville passed away, peacefully, on Monday, October 23, 2023.  He was born in Union to the late Buck and Vera Howard Wilson.

Jimmy, a graduate of Abbeville High School, served in the U.S. Coast Guard.  He was employed by CSX Railroad, was a prison guard for Abbeville County and was a custodian at AHS before finally retiring. Very civic and community minded, Jimmy was a member of the Abbeville Rotary Club, enjoyed volunteering and acting at the Abbeville Opera House and was an Ambassador for the Abbeville County Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed singing at churches and the nursing home. Jimmy attended New Life Worship Center and several other churches in Abbeville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Wilson and a sister, Grace Wilson Gambrell.

Jimmy is survived by his son, Wally Wilson; daughter, Jennifer Wilson Erwin (Chuck); two brothers, Dennis Wilson (Elise) and Richard L. Wilson (Audrey); sister, Brenda Graham and six grandchildren, Dalton Reynolds (Brooke), Jenna Reynolds, Johnathan Wilson, Conner Wilson, Hayden Erwin (Eleni) and Brodie Erwin. He loved Hilary Brown and her children as if they were his own.

Funeral services will be 2:00PM, Thursday, October 26, 2023, in the Harris Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Tim Dorsey officiating.  The family will receive friends at a reception following the service under the portico at Harris Funeral Home.  Graveside services will be 4:00PM on Thursday in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.

The family will be at the home of Jennifer and Chuck Erwin, 1496 Hook Rd, Honea Path, SC.
