Joann B. Rauton, 87, of Abbeville, wife of James ‘Jim’ Rauton, died Thursday, September 12, 2024, at her home. She was born in Lowndesville to the late James Bennett Baughman, Sr. and Annie Rebecca McNeill Baughman.

A 1955 graduate of Abbeville High School, Joann continued her education at the Greenwood College of Commerce graduating in 1958. She was employed in the Abbeville County Treasurers Office, retiring after many years of dedicated service. Beyond her career, Joann was a member of various community organizations, reflecting her passion for connecting with others, including the Jayceettes and the Red Hatters and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the many lives she touched.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, John William Baughman, James Bennett ‘J.B.' Baughman, Jr., Margaret Irene Crowther and Annie Rebecca ‘Beck’ Bond.

Graveside services will be 11:00AM, Tuesday, September 17, 2024, in Long Cane Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

Joann is survived by her husband of 66 years, Jim, of the home; children, Ken (Julie) Rauton and Kathy (Myron) Bernard; and three grandchildren, Ayden Bernard, Tyler Rauton and Ashley Rauton all of Abbeville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions, in memory of Joann, may be sent to Connie Maxwell Children’s Ministries, 810 Maxwell Ave., Greenwood, SC 29646.
