Jodie 'June Bug' Wiley Jr.

Jodie A. ‘June Bug’ Wiley, Jr., 83, husband of Judy Gilmer Wiley, of Abbeville, died Thursday, December 6, 2018 at the Abbeville Nursing Home. He was born in Abbeville to the late Jodie A. Wiley, Sr. and Sallie Butler Wiley.

Mr. Wiley was affectionately known as ‘June Bug’, ‘Pop’, or ‘Junior’.  As a farmer, he had an appreciation of nature and enjoyed his chosen profession.  Because of his active involvement in the Abbeville Cattlemen’s Association, Abbeville County Soil and Water Conservation and Farm Bureau, he was the recipient of awards for his outstanding contributions.  “June Bug’ worshipped at Rice Memorial Baptist Church

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Franklin, Mabry, James and Otis C. Wiley; sisters, Geneva McCurry, Lois Pinson, Frances Brown, Vera Leverette and Mary Hall.

‘June Bug’ is survived by his wife, Judy, of 58 years, of the home; son, Mark Wiley (Dana) of Abbeville; two grandchildren, Hannah Davis (Andy) and Keri Young (Seth); and five great-grandchildren, Claire Davis, Peyton Ashley, Grayson Davis, Christina Young and Tinsley Young.

The family will receive friends 1:30 PM – 2:30 PM, Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Harris Funeral Home, Abbeville Chapel.  Funeral services will begin at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel.  Burial will follow in Long Cane Cemetery.
