Joe G. Charping, 76, of Lowndesville, husband of the late Loretta Young Charping, died Friday, June 4, 2021 at the Abbeville Area Medical Center. He was born in Abbeville to the late Joseph Charping and Jeanette Billings Charping.
Mr. Charping attended Calhoun Falls High School and was employed with Mohawk Industries for many years. He enjoyed fishing; however, time spent with his family was most important to him. Mr. Charping will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He worshipped at Lowndesville Pentecostal Holiness Church.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Charping was preceded in death by a son Greg Charping, an infant daughter, Shelby Ann Charping, brother, Ray Charping and sister, Martha Lewis.
He is survived by his daughter, Shelby Charping Dixon (Steven Cox) of Calhoun Falls, his son, Steve Charping (Candy) of Abbeville; a brother, Marshall Charping of Bowman, GA; three sisters, Louise McBride of Iva, Marie Land (Lonnie) of Calhoun Falls and Faye Johnson of Elberton, GA; seven grandchildren, Joe Dixon (Madison), Brandon Dixon (Melanie), Riley Dixon (Skyla), Gracee Dixon, Chase Charping (Tabitha), Brandy Hudgins (Ron) and Jake Charping; and eleven great-grandchildren, Zoey, Bella, Elizabeth, Olivia, Deklan, Cash, Rucker, Alexa, Savannah, Grayson and Waylon.
Graveside services will be 11:00 AM, Monday, June 7, 2021, in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with Rev. Scotty Willoughby and Mr. Wayne White officiating.
The family is at their respective homes.
